The Brief
We are Japanese style pasta restaurant that would like to open a new space in downtown Vancouver.

When I first thought about Japanese style pasta, I thought it was really interesting. Here are two different cuisines, from two different cultures, that are totally different from each other, and yet merge perfectly when cooked. That is why the big idea for this restaurant was, a secret love affair; two items that are not ‘meant to be’, yet are unexpectedly compatible.

The name Hiji is actually a word in Japanese meaning secret. This word conveys the big idea behind the brand, while also manifesting itself in other applications, such as the rustic look the restaurant had, and also the menu and other merchandise.
